Fandoghi Pistachio is the most widely available pistachio variety and grows in the most pistachio growing areas of Iran. In recent years, around 50% of Iranian production is of the Fandoghi type. Fandoghi pistachios are the first type in terms of exportation, due to being reasonable in price.
Fandoghi Pistachio is known as Round Pistachio because of having round shape. Round Pistachio has the lowest shape index among the four cultivars. The most common character to identify this type is the shape of this pistachio is rather short and is rather small. Round Pistachio is the most famous kind of pistachio in the world. As it is round in shape and small in size, it is well known among the other types of pistachios.
